Anna Maria Can’t-Miss Outdoor Tours

Anna Maria Island is the ultimate destination for the nature lover in your life. Even though the island itself is just seven miles long, you’ll have plenty of room to explore some of the most breathtaking nature of Florida. One of the best ways to get up-close-and-personal with the flora and fauna of the area is to embark on an outdoor tour! Here are a few of our favorites, all conveniently located near our Anna Maria vacation rentals.

Mangrove Kayak Tours

Anna Maria Island mangroves are simply not to be missed, and a mangrove kayak tour can be the perfect way to explore. Don’t worry if you’ve never been on a kayak before; no matter what tour company you select, you’ll have an experienced guide with you to get you comfortable on your kayak and to show you the ropes.

One of the most popular companies is Beach Bums, which offers a kayak tour that is incredibly scenic and relaxing. You’ll start your tour by learning about ocean kayaks and seeing a demonstration on proper paddling techniques. You’ll also learn about the mangrove system and how it plays into Florida’s ecology, and you’re in the history of the Key Royale Bridge and Bimini Bay. On your tour, you’re almost sure to see birds like blue herons and white egrets, as well as ocean life like hermit crabs and mullet. You might even spot dolphins and manatees!

Fishing Charters

To make the most of your time on the water, booking a fishing charter is one of your best bets. Your guide will be able to take you to just the right spot in the water to catch whatever fish you’re interested in. Imagine getting to spend the day on the water with the ones you love most, catching an incredible fish to brag to your friends about, or to eat for dinner!

Anna Maria Inshore Fishing has long been called the premier fishing experience on the island. Captain Kyle Taylor will take incredible care of you as you try to catch everything from tarpon to redfish, trout, and even shark!  All of your fishing gear, licenses, bait, and a cooler are provided with the cost of your charter, and when you’re through, Captain Kyle can clean fillet, and bag any fish you catch. Choose a 4-hour or 7-hour charter depending on your preferences.

Beach Horseback Riding

When you consider ways to experience the wonders of the Anna Maria Island waters, beach horseback riding is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. However, it can be an incredible way for the entire family to experience the Gulf, and it’s certainly a unique experience that you’re sure to remember for a lifetime.

C Ponies takes pride in offering exhilarating experiences that both guests and horses love. Owner Carmen Herrmann Hanson started the company after a non-horse related accident in 2012 left her unable to train horses. Today, she enlists horses for C Ponies and takes the utmost care of them, so you can rest assured that the horse is enjoying the experience just as much as you are!

Paddle Boarding

Paddleboarding is a fun way to experience the water and get some exercise at the same time!  As with any of these experiences, don’t be concerned if you’ve never been on a paddleboard before. You’ll have an incredible guide to help you get your sea legs.

At AMI Paddle Board, you can either rent a board for yourself or join a Florida Mangrove Tour with their expert guide, Ben. Tours are available for anyone and everyone, and the two-hour tour is the perfect amount of time to explore the Florida mangroves. You will experience the area and learn a new skill at the same time! Don’t worry about bringing anything other than swimwear, towel, sunscreen, and water shoes if you prefer. A Coast Guard-approved vest and whistle will be provided for you.

When it comes to exploring the waters of Anna Maria Island, take some time to embark on one of these outdoor tours. The whole family will love getting a unique perspective on the area and soaking up the sun. At the end of the day, you can relax in one of our Anna Maria vacation homes.
