Halloween on Anna Maria Island

With its “Old Florida” feel, pristine beaches, and perfect weather, Anna Maria Island is an incredible place to visit any time of the year. But depending on when you come, you may benefit from some extra special events. The month of October, for instance, and all the time leading up to Halloween is full of fun and fantastical events you and your kids won’t want to miss!

Pumpkin Festival in Bradenton Florida

28th Annual Pumpkin Festival

Pumpkins, hayrides, petting zoos, corn maze, rock climbing, and more – you don’t want to miss out! During the last three weekends of October, the festivities are in full swing. Each weekend holds different live entertainment, from musicians to stunt shows to dog shows. So, be sure to check out the schedule beforehand to decide which day(s) you want to visit.

Admission costs $10, though children 10 and under are free. For the price of admission, numerous venues are free, including the petting zoo, barnyard playground, craft show, and hayrides. If you’re willing to pay a little extra, there are plenty of other activities – face painting, pony rides, train rides – that will keep your kids entertained the entire day!

The festival’s hours are from 9am-5pm on October 12 & 13, 19 & 20, 26 & 27. Come to Hunsader Farms at 5500 C.R. 675, Bradenton, to make some wonderful family memories.

Head down to Pine Avenue in downtown Anna Maria for some all-day street festival fun on Saturday, October 19! Street vendors will be selling everything from seafood to churros and arepas. Cool, tasty refreshments, such as smoothies, gourmet ice cream, and piña coladas, will be widely available.

Spend hours perusing block after block of local artisans, crafters, and vendors. There will be a bounce house and fun inflatables to keep the kids occupied while Mom and Dad shop. The Bayfest lasts from 10 am to 9 pm. Come early for the classic car show, which lasts from 10 am to 3 pm.

Girls at the Boofest in Bradenton Florida

On October 25, the Lakewood Ranch Community presents Boofest. Families are invited to come out and watch local dancers on the Art & Soul Dance Performing Arts stage and enjoy a spooky balloon artist. There will be a costume show, so children are invited to come in costume with trick or treat bags to collect all the delightful sweets that will be given out by merchants and sponsors.
Tickets cost $50 per adult and $10 per child. The event lasts from 6 pm to 9 pm and takes place on 8100 Lakewood Main St, Bradenton.

Halloween Candle Making

For any artsy types hoping to get into the holiday spirit, join The Folk School at the Florida Maritime Museum for a beginning candle making class where you will learn basic skills, such as layering, adding, fragrance, and color. Every student will make three different candles – a Halloween votive candle holder, a candle in a Halloween mug, and a candy corn colored candle – which they will get to bring home.

This event takes place on October 30 from 10 am to 12 pm. Purchase your tickets online before they are sold out!

Fright Night on St. Armand’s

The main attraction of the Halloween season takes place in the very heart of Anna Maria Island, in St. Armand’s Circle. The young and young at heart are invited the evening of October 31 to witness the spectacular transformation of St. Armands Circle into a town of fright. Storefronts will be decked in spooky decorations, and wandering spirits will appear around every corner. Children may trick-or-treat throughout the Circle.
